Synopsis: We are the same kind of monster

Jack Valentine is having a bad year. Between murder plots and bad romances, she could do with some time to sit back and reevaluate her life.

Unfortunately, she has work to do. With the Seekers officially disbanded, the only investigators left in Oxford are the Solis Invicti. Jack hates them on principle for stealing her best friend Cam, and it doesn't help that she's managed to embroil herself in a power struggle with their boss, the Primus, the most powerful Silver in existence.

But there's a bigger issue: a series of bodies has started popping up around the city, and everything points to the Invicti being involved.

Tempers are running hot, and that's not all that is. The poison in Jack's veins is burning her from the inside out, spelling death for Drake as well as her, and not even his healing kisses can control the flames. There's one thing that can, though: the Primus's blood, but he's not offering it for free.

Jack's health continues to deteriorate rapidly and, in this book, she must decide between save Drake's life or condemn them both to death.

But in order to save him she must forget about her feelings and never see him again... 😭

I have to say that I've been reading this author's books for years, and she is, without a doubt, one of the best storytellers I've ever had the pleasure of reading! In this book, small events begin to emerge that connect this series to the Solis Invicti series, and these elements are woven brilliantly throughout the narrative.

And to help you understand the gravity of the situation: Primus is my book boyfriend from the Solis Invicti series and, in Dark Days, we get to know him better and... I hated him! The truth is, he never lied about who he was or what his intentions were, but it was difficult to watch the choices he made.

Dark Days was crucial for understanding Primus's story, the history of Silver society, and the development of Jack and Drake's journey.

The only flaw I can point out in this book is that Cam barely appeared. I simply cannot forgive the absence of Jack's friend during such a difficult time in her life.

Dark Days was a page turner, and I can't wait to read the next book, End of Days, which will bring the conclusion of Jack and Drake's story while also delivering the long-awaited bridge to the Solis Invicti series.
