Seeing Double é o segundo livro da série Good Ol’ Boys e traz-nos a história de Kenna e Levi.
Kenna é aquela moça gira, rica e popular que todos querem como amiga. Kenna ilumina a vida de todos com quem interage, apesar de por dentro se sentir um pouco apagada desde que perdeu a sua irmã e melhor amiga. Desde o acidente que tirou a vida à irmã e poupou a sua, que Kenna passa o tempo a tentar viver como a sua irmã viveria se estivesse viva. Vive rodeada de pessoas e vai a muitas festas, mas ambiciona por alguém que a veja como verdadeiramente é por baixo dessa sua camada.
E é aí que entra Levi, o seu crush.
Levi é um Clark Kent universitário que vem de uma família opressiva onde o silêncio é a sua rede de segurança. Levi, filho de agricultores, estudou muito para chegar onde está e até ganha a vida a ser tutor de outros alunos.
Quando Kenna o contrata para ser seu tutor sob condições de pagamento de sonho, Levi (aka Mr. Taylor) aceita, primeiro sem saber quem ela é e, no decorrer das conversas, começam a conhecer-se melhor (algo que Levi não fazia antes disso por timidez) e Levi descobre quem é a sua nova aluna.
Assim, enquanto Levi sabe perfeitamente quem é a sua tutoranda, Kenna continua às escuras achando que Mr. Taylor e Levi são pessoas diferentes.
Assim, vamos acompanhamento as aventuras e desventuras deste casal num romance repleto de slowburn e que representa o típico "tenho crush, mas acho que ela(e) não gosta de mim dessa forma".
Adorei de coração a Kenna, é daquelas personagens que nos faz querer ser sua amiga! O Levi, apesar de conseguir entender todo o seu passado traumático achei-o, por vezes, um pouco possessivo, o que, apesar de tudo, me fez não adorar esta personagem.
Não li o primeiro livro da série, e, apesar de este poder ser lido como standalone, recomendo a leitura do primeiro livro para melhor experiência (até porque a história da Hailey e do Adam parece que despoletou toda uma mudança neste grupo de farmboys e fê-los ambicionar encontrar um amor assim), tendo em conta que o início de Seeing Double vem na sequência de eventos passados em “Falling for Tempatation” e, na minha opinião, deve ter sido por isso que o início me pareceu um pouco apressado (como se aqueles momentos já tivessem tido um foco, mesmo que em segundo plano, no primeiro livro).
Depois dessa parte de início, o livro é composto por um slow burn muito bom e a história dá umas quantas voltas que me surpreenderam. Inclusive, não estava mesmo nada à espera da volta que a história deu e da forma como terminou!

Seeing Double is the second book in the Good Ol' Boys series and brings us the story of Kenna and Levi.
Kenna is that cute, rich and popular girl that everyone wants as a friend. Kenna brightens up the lives of everyone she interacts with, though inside she feels off since she lost her sister and best friend. Since the accident that took her sister's life and spared hers, Kenna has spent her time trying to live as her sister would if she were alive. She lives surrounded by people and goes to a lot of parties, but she longs for someone who sees her for what she truly is beneath that layer of hers.
And that's where Levi, her crush, comes in.
Levi is a college Clark Kent who comes from an oppressive family where silence is his safety net. Levi, the son of farmers, studied hard to get where he is and earns his living tutoring other students.
When Kenna hires him to be her tutor under dream payment terms, Levi (aka Mr. Taylor) accepts, at first not knowing who she is and, in the course of their conversations, they get to know each other better (something Levi hasn't done before due to his shyness) and Levi finds out who his new student is.
So, while Levi knows exactly who his student is, Kenna remains in the dark thinking that Mr. Taylor and Levi are completely different people.
So, throughout Seeing Double we follow a slowburn romance between this popular girl and this nerd boy that represents the typical "I have a crush, but I think she/he doesn't like me that way".
I really loved Kenna, she's one of those characters that makes us want to be friends with her! Levi, despite being able to understand all his traumatic past, I found him, at times, a little possessive, which, after everything, made me not love this character.
I haven't read the first book in the series, and although it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first book for a better experience (not least because Hailey and Adam's story in seems to have triggered a whole change in this group of farmboys and made them aspire to find a love like that), given that the beginning of Seeing Double follows on from past events in Falling For Temptation (Good Ol' Boys #1) and, in my opinion, that must have been why the beginning felt a bit rushed to me (as if those moments had already had a focus, even if in the background, in the first book).
After that, the book is composed of a very good slow burn and it takes a few turns that really surprised me and hooked me to the book. In fact, I really wasn't AT ALL expecting the way it ended!
This book is for you if: you like college romance, slow burn, popular girl/nerd boy, one bed trope.
